We packed a lot in the last few weeks – the children enjoyed improving their narrative writing skills in our literacy lessons and wrote excellent stories with a Winter or Christmas theme. We read these out to the class on our last day of term whilst enjoying a nice mug of hot chocolate in our PJ’s.
We had a fun science lesson observing the melting properties of various liquids on a candycane – we also got to enjoy eating one as we recorded our observations.
We had lots of outdoor sport playing basketball, soccer aswell as playground games in our PE lessons.
In Irish we focused on learning our irregualr verbs and worked on vocabulary for the themes Éadaí and Siopadóireacht in reading and writing.
We learnt about different feasts and festivals celebrated around the world aswell as natural features in the various continents. We completed a project about Biomes at home on Microsoft teams and some very impressive work was submitted.
It hasn’t been an easy few weeks in Maths as difficult topics such as fractions and decimals were covered but the children really worked hard and have a great understanding and working knowledge of all the new concepts. We also covered 2D shapes and length which we revised on our Ipads with Kahoot quizes.
We also practiced for our Winter show which we hope you all enjoyed and did some fantastic art projects including making a Christmas decoration from clay. We really enjoyed decorating our classroom door for the Best Classroom door competition which was a great team effort.
We wish all of our familes and friends a safe and happy winter break and a Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing everyone back in the classroom in January!
