We have had such a fun and busy December in 3rd class!
In English, we are reading our fantasy novel ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’ by C.S Lewis which we are just coming to the end of now… the question remains will Aslan and the children finally defeat the White Witch in Narnia?
The class also worked hard on their narrative writing skills and enjoyed creating stories using the story mountain structure and discussing what features make up a good story. Following on from this the boys and girls worked collaboratively in pairs to create some exciting Christmas stories and enjoyed sharing these with their peers.
During Gaeilge, the class were busy learning about the theme of ‘An Nollaig’ through reading various texts and writing up Christmas dinner menus As Gaeilge. They enjoyed singing ‘Bualadh Bos’ and playing games such as bingo using Irish Christmas vocabulary.
In maths, the class are continuing to develop their mental maths and problem-solving skills. This month they also enjoyed working with decimals.
We had lots of fun getting into the Christmas spirit by learning our festive songs for the Winter Wonderland video this year. Third class also had a great time decorating their door like Santa Clause (with some elves to help too!) as part of our whole school Christmas challenge. Last Friday, we absolutely loved seeing all the different doors that had been designed – which was made possible via zoom with Gerry hosting! It has been a great term and I hope everyone has a happy & safe Christmas Holiday. I’m really looking forward to seeing the class back for more learning and fun in the New Year. Merry Christmas Everyone!
