Welcome to our 3rd Class page!
Here you will find what we have been learning and getting up to in school – we hope you enjoy it.
Third Class had a great start to the year – they were busy reading, learning their spellings, practising their quick mental recall of number facts and working hard on their handwriting to achieve their pen licences!
We also had lots of fun learning about the Russian Artist Wassily Kandinsky and enjoyed recreating some of his abstract designs.
The class had a great time dressing up for our school’s Annual Witches Walk and creating colourful pumpkins on the last day of term before Halloween. Check out some of our fun and spooky costumes below!
In Maths, third class have been working hard learning about Lines and Angles, Fractions, Data Handling and Multiplication this term and they are now excited about moving on to division!
In Irish they have been busy learning about Me Féin, An Scoil and we are now on the topic of Bia. The class love playing games and singing songs/raps to help them learn new vocabulary and have been working hard on their Gaeilge spellings each week.
In S.E.S.E third class really enjoyed learning about The Ancient Egyptians and getting to use the iPads to research this fascinating period of History.
Third class also worked really well on their procedural writing last month in English, where they wrote recipes and of course absolutely loved getting to make and eat their very own Rice Krispie buns in the process!
For Art last Friday, the class made some gorgeous winter themed snow globes with Caélinn and are now looking forward to December and the exciting build up towards Christmas!
