March fun

Wow! Time goes so quickly in Junior Infants ! We have had so much fun over the last few weeks, here are some of the things we got up to.
In maths we were learning about patterns we had fun using tangrams, where we made shapes and copied each other’s shapes, as well as sorting them by shape or colour. We are also working really hard on our number formation!

We had such fun for world book day we got to have some D.E.A.R (drop everything and read) time before we went home and we loved bringing in our favourite books, some of the children even read their stories to the class!! A story we loved was The Lorax by Dr. Seuss and ‘Stuck’ by Oliver Jeffers.

We also had great fun on Pancake Tuesday when we flipped sounds as if they were pancakes! It was trickier than we thought!

Then we had crazy hair and clothes day to raise money for the wonderful first responders in Kildare town! We loved everyone’s crazy creations!

As part of our efforts to earn our next STEM award (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) every class put on a science exhibition and got to show the classes near to them what they were learning about. For our exhibition we decided on the following topics, pushing and pulling, light, sound and observing growth in plants. We enjoyed hosting other classes and going to see their exhibitions.

Lastly for Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish week) we explored Irish through a classroom treasure hunt, having some of 4th class read to small groups, we even had some sibling groups. We also had a céilí mór (big dance) in the halla with Aisling’s, Clare’s and Hannah’s classes it was brilliant we even did the Haka as Gaeilge!!! And finally we had our Lá glas in school where everyone wore something green to get into the spirit of St. Patrick’s day.
