November has been a busy month for Oisin’s 6th Class. We have utilised Microsoft Teams and OneNote to complete our homework and in-school projects. The children have had a lot of practice with the applications and growing in confidence with them. We recently completed an online Workshop with the Riverbank theatre in Newbridge. The children created ‘Zines’ which highlighted social issues across Ireland and the World.
Maths: We have covered 2D Shapes, Multiplying and Dividing Fractions, Multiplying Decimals, Converting Fractions to Decimals (and visa-versa) and then an in-depth look into Number Theory, such as squared numbers, roots, prime and composite numbers, indices and factors.
Gaeilge: For Irish this month we have started writing essays in the class focusing on Ar Maidin, as well as the themes of Éadaí and Siopadóireacht. Our spelling focus has been on irregular verbs in the past tense.
Literacy: Our literacy lessons have been a lot of fun in November as we played a lot of vocabulary development games such as Pointless, Panic! and Stop the Bus. We finished our novel, The Otherside of Truth, which the whole class appeared to enjoy.
SESE: During SESE we covered a lot of different topics from Feasts and Festivals across the world to Daniel O’Connell, The Reformation and Biomes. We created some fantastic homework projects on MS Teams and in-class projects also.
PE: For the month of November we have games using equipment, and some without. Some class favourites were included such as Dodgeball, Capture the Flag, Bench Ball and Swamp Ball. We also played hockey and competed a Beep Test (Fitness Test).
All our work is posted on to Teams, and here is a glimpse into our classroom life below:
