November’s Activities – 5th Class B

We had a very productive month in Andrew’s 5th class. Microsoft Teams has been a big success, and it is a great tool for homework and class work under the current circumstances. A lot of the work we cover in class can be found under channels and files on Microsoft Teams, as well as pictures and highlights of this month’s activities. If you would like to look over and discuss some of the topics covered in class this month, you will find some worksheets in files under the relevant subject area on MS Teams.

Maths: This month we covered fractions, decimals, lines and angles as well as number theory.

English: We have been reading the novel ‘Wonder’ throughout November, we also did some narrative and explanation writing. Some of the amazing Wonder activities can be seen below (and on MS Teams).

Gaeilge: This month our topics have included An Scoil and Bia from Bua na Cainte. We have also put a big emphasis on oral language games, spoken Irish and verbs.

SESE: Last month the children were busy working within their groups on a very exciting topic- the Aztecs and Mexico! As part of this projects the children investigated an area they were interested in, carried out their own research on that topic for homework before putting all their information together for some amazing projects. It was great to see the children take responsibility for their own research and use their artistic and creative flair to piece the projects together 🙂

‘Wonder’ – Over the last few weeks, 5th class have been reading ‘Wonder’ by RJ Palacio. We have enjoyed every second of it. Having completed the novel last week, the class created some portraits of their favourite characters along with some interesting character descriptions. As always, the end product was amazing! Well done 5th class 😁

Grandparents Day 2020: Unfortunately, we weren’t able to celebrate Grandparents Day the way we usually do, or the way we would like to this year. However, we did mark it in a special way. Our class showed off their amazing art skills once again when they created beautiful portraits of their loved ones. Some of our very own 5th class superstars were interviewed for the special day, the video has been uploaded to MS Teams along with some of the amazing artwork 🙂
