It is hard to believe that mid-term is just around the corner! We have been having so much fun in Junior Infants and everyone has settled in so well. We really enjoy our table top activities in the morning time. This strengthens our hands and helps us with our writing.
In maths, we have been learning about sorting by colour, thing and size. We have also been creating patterns. We love singing songs and using ‘numicon’ to learn about number. If you would like to know more about numicon you can find lots of information here https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/maths/numicon-guide-for-parents/
Our favourite part of the day is Aistear time! In September our theme was ‘Home’. We have been enjoying getting into character in the roleplay area, building homes in construction, creating with playdoh and playing in small world.
In SESE, SPHE and The Arts we have been learning all about growing up. We sorted out different items that babies, toddlers and children use. We made timelines of ourselves growing up too! We painted self-portraits, sequenced the story of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and made houses with our groups for ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We have been learning all about colours so we went on a fun colour hunt all around the school.
Our Aistear theme for October is ‘School’. We have been roleplaying as the principal, teacher and student. We love using the school bus in small world and constructing fantastic schools with lego!
