Space Week, Maths Week, Planting Spring Flowers and an Autumn hunt!
We’ve had a busy time in Junior Infants recently! We celebrated Space week by having a speaker called Paul into tell us all about Space. He showed us some really interesting Space displays; including a scale model of the Solar system, a Lego model of the Saturn 5, which was the rocket that Astronauts Buzz Aldrin , Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins flew in to land on the Moon and a telescope!
Maths week was next , we used our maths Eyes to find shapes, numbers and colours around the school garden. We each had a challenge to complete which was great fun. Then in maths we used the Cuisenaire rods (maths rods) to make lovely pictures!
We took advantage of the dry Autumn days and planted some spring bulbs! We hope they will bloom in early Spring, keep your eyes open for them!
We also went on an Autumn hunt around the school grounds we found some things off our list and we found some things that were not on the list, such as mushrooms and insects which was really fun!
We are still having great learning about homes in Aistear, we have learned about all different types of homes people live in!
