Recently we have been learning about the Rainforests and the importance of protecting these rich habitats. We admired the diversity of birds, animals, flowers and trees found in the Rainforest and we learned how to identify the layers of tree growth found within. We looked at and talked about the famous painting ‘Tiger in a Tropical Storm’ by Henri Rousseau and identified some techniques he used in the painting. We then applied these techniques such as overlapping lines and tonal variations to create our own Rainforest drawings entitled ‘Tropical Toucans’. These drawings in oil pastel pack quite a punch and I think they radiate a tropical heat which would warm up even the coldest of days. Well done boys and girls, beautiful work.
