AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITIES

This term’s afterschool activities for children from 1st – 6th class will begin the week of 29th September, and finish on Friday 12th December. They will cost €50 for ten weeks.

There are no afterschool activities for Junior & Senior Infants.  We will send you the menu of activities in the next couple of days, and booking links will follow later in the week.

 INDUSTRIAL ACTION

Aideen & Ross want to thank all members of the school community for their invaluable support during last week’s Strike action, it made a difficult situation much easier.  Talks are in progress at the Workplace Relations Commission, and we hope they will end soon, and favourably.

 GREEN SCHOOL

We are very proud to call ourselves a green school, and have earned a Green Flag for three themes so far – Recycling & Waste, Energy, and Water.  Each flag takes two years to earn and is a whole school initiative.  It involves students on a committee making an action plan, and encouraging their peers and the school community to participate.

The students have meetings, present information to the school at school assemblies, and maintain awareness within the school of our three themes.  We try to link the themes with our school curriculum as much as possible, and update our green schools display board with information and ideas for students and teachers.  Classrooms have waste and recycling bins and students take responsibility for being energy and water monitors.

We would not have achieved these flags without the support of the whole school community, school, staff and parents – Thank you!

 CHOIR

St. Brigid’s Community Choir is going from strength to strength, and new members are welcome – it’s a great way to meet more people in the area and have some fun. Rehearsals take place in St. Brigid’s Primary School – R51 XY30 at 8pm on Tuesday evenings.
